We’ve been doing this for a while now, so we’ve fielded our share of questions. Take advantage of our experience to answer some of your questions ahead of time:
- How much do you cost?
- There’s unfortunately no easy answer upfront, as band configuration, length of performance, type of event, travel time, all factor into the final cost. But there is an easy way to get an answer: talk to us!

- Do you provide your own sound?
- Yes! We are completely self-contained and require no sound equipment from a venue, unless they have a house sound system that they prefer to use.

- How long can you play?
- All our groups can play any amount of time from 30 minutes to 4 hours. We’ll pace our set breaks appropriately to always keep the party going!

- Do you take requests?
- In advance, almost always! We arrange all our own music, so if there’s something special you want for your event, let us know during the booking process and we can make it happen.
- Onsite requests during performance can be trickier to accommodate; we can’t guarantee that we can come up with particular tunes on the spot, but we do guarantee that we’ll at least hear you out! If we don’t have the particular request, we’ll do our best to come up with something similar.
- I like the idea of the big jazz band, but don’t want the full group, can you remove a few players and just bring around 10-12?
- Unfortunately, this is not a feasible option, as our songs are arranged so that every player has an important role, and removing multiple performers will leave awkward gaps in the music. The DB Octet is a great compromise for a jazz group that’s not as overwhelming as a full big band.
